Nail Trend 2024

Nail Trend 2024, Montreal Manicure

Nails have quickly evolved from simple charms to intricate raised designs and are increasingly being used as canvases for texture. Kandalec warns of an emerging trend: mixing-and-match manicures combining different textures, colors and designs into one look.

She notes a trend toward cat-eye nail art featuring jelly polish mixed with magnetic velvet and chrome finishes for an eye-catching yet flattering result.

Brown Nails

As autumn nears, dark nail colors are essential to staying fashionable this season. New York City manicurist Elle Gerstein recommends the deep cherry red shade she dubs “odd squad,” saying it makes an eye-catching statement and complements everything from warm olive hues to dark copper tones.

Brown remains an ever-popular hue this season and Google searches have shown this. Coquette nail trends–minimalist art that transforms your tips into canvases–have seen Google searches increase significantly this year. One way of playing along is with Scrabble font manicure spelling out “H-E-L-M-U-T L-A-N-G,” though you could also incorporate Kate Spade dot noel monogram (thankfully logomania has subsided somewhat), or simply by writing in your favorite brand’s name into this year’s trend.

Linework nails, using negative space to form thin shapes and lines on nails, is another major trend of 2024. Celebrity manicurist Julie Kandalec used this technique at Helmut Lang Spring/Summer 2024 show to achieve an effect resembling Matisse/Kandinsky paintings on nails; you can achieve similar effects using cat-eye press-ons for easy replication of this look.

Coquette Nails

Are you drawn to delicate gems and feminine bows? The coquette nails trend may be right up your alley! This charming aesthetic blends classic pinks and lilacs with intricate details such as lace motifs, hearts and pearl accents for a sophisticated, feminine manicure that exudes femininity.

If a dark approach to this look appeals to you, try black French tips with 3D bow centerpiece. This bold style can make an eye-catching statement for Valentine’s Day or other special events.

Choose classic white nails with delicate ribbon details for an elegant way of wearing this trend that will elevate any outfit instantly.

Rather than spending the time to paint an intricate bow on each nail, consider investing in nail stickers instead. They provide a quick and easy way to participate in trend without using thin brushes; choose from an array of designs including bows, floral patterns and even teddy bears!

Micro French Nails

Slimmer-tipped French manicures are currently trending. Similar to the ombre hair trend, this trend provides subtle changes that are easy to DIY at home. Bachik recommends choosing tonal shades with contrasting bases for an instant gradient effect – like Essie Step Out of Line or JINsoon Halcyon from JINsoon.

Georgia Rae, celebrity manicurist extraordinaire, believes this minimalist French manicure with its white wafer-thin tips makes a powerful yet subtle statement. Rae also notes this design works particularly well on shorter nails as its thin line lengthens their appearance.

Nail art trends are taking off this summer. Now is the perfect time to add some color or embellish your nails with rhinestones – both are highly sought-after according to our expert panel and wear them frequently! Plus, they look good!

Metallic Nails

TikTok users have taken notice of an exquisite metallic hybrid nail trend: French manicure with precious metal hues for an extraordinary style that draws compliments and attracts admiration. For an understated version of this trend, opt for neutral polish base with gold or silver swirls painted onto your tips as an eye-catching statement piece.

Use a striping brush to create simple silver squiggles over clear or nude manis for an eye-catching, replicable look. Nail Artist Tom Bachik created something similar for Prabal Gurung’s spring 2024 show; his metallic bow design featuring red heart outline looks especially glamorous!

If you love the airy aura vibes that have taken over our feeds, why not try Queenie Nguyen’s metallic marbled nail art idea from Queenie Nguyen (who has designed beautiful nails for celebs such as Kim Kardashian and Keke Palmer). Or for an eye-catching design combine a chrome base with micro French manicure for an eye-catching design!
