Poly Gel Manicure

Poly Gel Manicure, Montreal Manicure

Polygel nails have become increasingly popular due to their versatility, strength, and long-term wearability compared to acrylic or hard gel alternatives. Furthermore, when applied by an experienced nail tech they’re considered less damaging.

Start Your Poly Gel Manicure Right Your Nail Technician will begin by using a polygel kit which typically includes liquid slip solution, clean-up solution, dual forms, nail brushes, curing lamp and top coats to get started with Poly gel Manicure treatments.

Prep

Your nail technician will begin by removing existing polish and buffing the surface before using an alcohol swap to clear away oils and moisture from your nail plate.

Polygel stands out from other nail enhancement options by having a putty consistency that remains where you place it, without emitting strong odors like acrylics which may put off some clients.

Since this product is softer than acrylic, your nail technician won’t require an e-file to shape it. Once they’ve achieved their desired shape, they’ll cure the nail under either UV or LED lighting before wiping away any excess product with a lint-free wipe soaked with nail surface cleanser – this step typically takes around one minute.

Base Coat

Dependent upon the kit you buy, there may be either a slip solution or alcohol-based gel that must first be applied in order for polygel to adhere securely. With your brush included with this solution dipping in and applying over either dual form or natural nails is advised by Romain.

As soon as they’ve applied the Polygel, your technician will begin applying it. They typically begin by placing a ball of product at the center of each nail, and shaping it to match your desired shape and length.

After molding nails, they will be cured for 60 seconds before being polished and cleaned up to keep a sleek finish. You may then use your hands as normal, painting on nail art as desired! Just be sure to finish each task off by applying a top coat!

Polygel

Polygel is an innovative hybrid nail product similar to acrylic but better for your nails. Its putty-like consistency makes it easy for nail technicians to mold it into desired shapes without leaving residue behind on nails.

Prior to applying Polygel, your nail technician will first prepare your nails. They’ll use a lint-free towel dipped in isopropyl alcohol to wipe the plate of any dirt or oil before using a small brush to apply a thin layer of the product onto natural nail beds and spread it across their surfaces.

Nail technicians use either nail forms or Nail tips (plastic overlays) to shape your natural nails before curing under a gel lamp. Once this process has taken place, your technician will trim away any excess polygel off of edges of tip or free edge of nail plate for final touch-ups.

Top Coat

Polygel is a hybrid product that combines the benefits of acrylics and gel polish into one, offering putty-like consistency for easy shaping of nail shapes desired.

Nail techs use base coat to prepare nails and cuticles prior to applying Polygel using a sculpting brush and nail form, then cure under LED lighting for final curing.

Idehen begins by filing her Polygel down with an e-file before proceeding to file it off by hand using a 180-grit file for complete control over pressure and movement to avoid damaging her natural nails beneath. A top coat is then applied before curing under an LED light for further sealing in of her work.

Removal

Polygel is a hybrid formula that looks and acts similarly to both acrylic and gel nails, applied as an overlay onto natural nails before being cured under UV lamps and then shaped as desired into desired length and style.

Since it is softer than acrylic, nail techs usually employ hand files rather than electronic files when shaping these nails and ensuring everything looks perfect. Yi warns against filing too aggressively or soaking your nails too long in acetone as this could damage the natural nail plate and should be done cautiously to avoid potential complications.

To remove a Polygel manicure, your nail technician should soak cotton balls in acetone and wrap them around each nail for 10 minutes before scraping off with a cuticle pusher. If any stubborn bits remain after this treatment has taken place, your technician can soak again and try again.
