There is an array of manicure polish to choose from. While some types may be easier to take off than others, others require a more involved nail care regimen.

Classic manicure services range from basic to deluxe and can include nail cleaning (cuticle clipping and filing of nails), shaping and applying your preferred polish color – plus optional hand massage!

Basic

A basic manicure involves having polish swiped onto your nails and then sealed off with a shiny top coat. You may also opt for extra nail care with shaping, buffing and pushing back services for cuticle care treatments. Nails and cuticles may often go neglected in beauty circles; but having regular manicures gives your hands an expert appearance while helping maintain health in this area of beauty.

Regular nail polish is composed of resins and film formers that help thicken and harden lacquer; additionally, plasticizers such as camphor are included to reduce brittleness and speed drying time under UV lamps. Once dry, removal with an acetone soak should be simple.

An acrylic manicure involves using liquid monomer and powder polymer to form a hard transparent layer over your natural nails, producing long-term nail art designs with eye-catching effects. Although long lasting and easily fixed quickly, acrylic may cause dryness if left on too long and should be removed when possible.

Gel

Gel nail polish has become increasingly popular at both salons and home manicures over recent years. This type of polish requires special curing under an LED or UV light and offers faster-drying durability with reduced chipping/smudging than regular nail polishes.

Liquid monomers used in this process include those found in liquid adhesives that, when exposed to ultraviolet radiation from a curing lamp, become polymerized and transform into solid, polymerized gel. These liquid monomers often consist of mixtures of methacrylates such as hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) or di-HEMA trimethyl-hexyl dicarbamate.

Gel can weaken natural nails when improperly removed. Tuttle recommends clients wear broad-spectrum sunscreen on their hands and fingertips prior to getting manicures to protect themselves from UV radiation exposure, and adds that applying cuticle oil and lotion daily is also highly beneficial in keeping nails strong.

Acrylic

Acrylic nails have long been an option for long, full and shaped nails. But without proper care – including getting regular fills as well as using hand cream and gloves when cleaning or gardening – acrylic nails can become brittle and even cause damage to the nail bed, potentially becoming brittle over time and breaking off at their base.

Dip powder offers an ideal alternative to acrylic nails since it doesn’t require liquid activator but instead uses pigmented acrylic powder that adheres directly to your base coat. With proper care, this manicure can last for three weeks without emitting an unpleasant odor.

Holographic

Holographic nail polish offers an eye-catching non-toxic manicure trend, made from quality ingredients. These eye-catching colors can last for two weeks without chipping!

Holographic nail polishes come in various varieties to suit every personal style and occasion, making finding one effortless. There are scattered holographics with small glitter particles for a rainbow effect and linear ones which reflect light more uniformly.

There are even holographic nail polishes that change colors as light passes over them, such as LeChat Dare to Wear’s stunning silver shade with an eye-catching prism effect – sure to catch people’s eyes! Other holographic polishes worth checking out include Revlon Daydreamer which boasts glossy holographic violet shine; Cirque Color Velvetine for lilac tones featuring rose glitter; and ILNP Birefringence which offers blue/aqua color shift, perfect for creating mermaid manicures!
