Types of Manicures
Manicures are an ideal way to pamper your nails and get them looking their best, while simultaneously improving hand hygiene and giving your hands a more professional appearance.
Do you know there are different types of manicures? From classic French manicures to dip powder manicures, there are so many choices when it comes to selecting a style of nail art manicure.
Classic Manicure
Basic manicure services typically include nail cleaning (cuticles are cut and filed), shaping, polish application and cuticle oil application – this treatment typically lasts 5-7 days without chipping! It’s convenient and affordable; perfect for all occasion!
French manicures were once all the rage during the ’90s and 2000s, yet have since become timeless classics. This look can be defined by an application of pink or neutral base color with white tips applied using nail guides or freehand.
Nail art can be added for an additional fee to this type of manicure, while nail care expert Abramcyk recommends taking additional measures to protect nails – such as using non-acetone nail polish remover on cotton pads to make removal even gentler – by visiting a salon that uses autoclave sterilization instead of green-blue disinfectants that is often found at nail shops.
Gel Manicure
Gel nail polish can be cured under either a UV or LED lamp for a durable, two-week finish that comes in an assortment of colors and applications, which ensure minimal chipping or fading over time.
Home gel manicures may look beautiful, but for maximum effectiveness we advise visiting a salon for professional service and even coverage of color. In addition, applying cuticle oil or rich hand cream prior to getting a gel mani will rehydrate nails that become dry or brittle under its thick layers of nail polish.
Gel manicures don’t last as long as traditional polish due to being vulnerable to hot water, which can cause it to lift. But by taking precautionary steps such as wearing gloves while performing hand activities or washing dishes, your longevity could be extended substantially.
Dip Powder Manicure
Dip powder manicures, also known as SNS nails, have recently made waves within the nail art community. This long-wearing nail technique uses gentle yet effective glue paired with pigmented powder for an instantaneous salon-worthy manicure that lasts up to four weeks – or SNS nails in their shorthand form!
While the process may be more laborious than that of a gel manicure, the result is stunning and durable polish without UV light curing, which can damage skin and nails. Also unlike acrylics, powder does not need to be filled approximately every two weeks–allowing full, shiny nails without additional length!
Before getting a dip powder manicure, always ensure to wipe your fingertips clean with non-acetone nail polish remover on a lint-free pad, buff and dehydrate your nails, then ask the nail technician not to directly dip your fingers into the powder jar as this poses a hygiene risk.
Basic Manicure
As its name implies, this type of manicure provides the bare essentials. This involves cleaning and polishing nails before pushing back cuticles and massaging hands with oil before finishing it off with an application of clear top coat. This service is quick, non-damaging to natural nails and doesn’t leave a mark behind when done regularly.
What It Is:
A soft gel manicure involves applying a base coat, two coats of polish, and a top coat cured under UV or LED light for up to four weeks of wear before having to soak off with acetone to remove. It resembles regular nail polish manicures but lasts much longer! Some prefer its inflexibility for strength and durability purposes while soaking is needed when taking it off again.
